  • Solar Bears To Host Alzheimer's Awareness Night

    September 26, 2018
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears will host the team’s first-ever Alzheimer’s Awareness Night, presented by Bioclinica Research and sponsored by Brown Builders Supply, when the team takes the ice against the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the ARS.com Rink at Amway Center.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of highlighting Alzheimer’s Disease awareness and the importance of research participation in our community. Bioclinica Research is committed to discovering the future of medicine together,” said Dr. Ira Goodman, Neuroscience Medical Director.

The Solar Bears will participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola Park. Fans who are interested in helping raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research can join the Solar Bears Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and/or donate to the team’s efforts by clicking here.

“5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, a disease which is the sixth leading cause of death in our country,” added Laurence Tell, president of Brown Builders Supply. “Alzheimer’s disease research is something that is personally important to myself and our company’s values, and we’re happy to partner with the Solar Bears on this night.”

During the game on Dec. 1, the team will wear specialty jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center and further research of Alzheimer’s disease.

“The Solar Bears remain dedicated to giving back to the community through a variety of initiatives every season,” Solar Bears president Chris Heller said. “We’d like to thank our partners at Bioclinica Research and Brown Builders Supply for their efforts in helping us in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.”
