2010-2011 Committees & Responsibilities

A-Team Committee
Chair: Ed Bookbinder
Responsibilities: The Chamber’s A-Team, our ambassadors, are one of many public faces of the Chamber. The committee is charged with welcoming new members, assuring our members are involved and that members are obtaining maximum benefit from the investment.

Communications Committee 
Chair: Matt Weber
Responsibilities: Establish systems that allow staff and volunteers to timely and effectively communicate and market the organization to members and the broader community.

Economic Development Committee
Chair: Kelly Rogers
Responsibilities: Lead Chamber Advocacy, Collaboration, and Communication to Initiate and coordinate economic development resources in Seminole County.  Examine ways to act as a resource for other entities by leveraging necessary Chamber resources.

  • Summit Sub-Committee Chair: David Felker
    Responsibilities:  Plan, execute and evaluate successful Economic Summit to address leading and key issues important to business development within Seminole County.
  • Forum Sub-Committee  Chair: Ray Watson
    Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate successful forums for key leaders within Seminole County to provide opportunities for open dialogue that creates synergy for business development within Seminole County. 
  • Industry Recognition Luncheon Sub-Committee Chair: Cynthia Sucher
    Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate successful Industry Recognition that recognizes the accomplishments of key businesses exhibiting leadership, growth and commitment within Seminole County.

Education/Workforce Committee 
Chair: Kat Feder/Frank Taylor
Responsibilities: Work in partnership with appropriate Chamber committees address issues that impact current and future education and workforce needs within Seminole County and Central Florida region. 
 
Finance Committee 
Chair: Tim Slattery
Responsibilities: The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring the finance, accounting, and budgeting functions of the Chamber. The committee is further responsible for reporting to the Board of Directors on the financial status of the Chamber, recommending policies or changes to the Board related to the finance or accounting functions of the Chamber, and working with staff to develop a yearly operating budget for Board consideration. In addition, the committee monitors the budget to identify trends in the business and economic market that have a potential to effect the day to day operations of the Chamber
 
 
Government Affairs Committee
Chair: Alice Weinberg
Responsibilities: Be proactive in addressing local, state and national issues important to the Chamber and its mission, our membership and business community.  To understand issues of interest to the businesses in the Seminole County area; to take advocacy positions on those issues; and to communicate the Chamber’s viewpoint clearly to our membership, elected officials, and the community at large.

Industry Committee
Chair: Todd Larsen
Responsibilities: Address local, state and national issues important to the Chamber and its mission, our membership and business community, plan events and meetings as necessary and establish, communicate and monitor an annual Public Policy Agenda which outlines the Chamber’s position and desires

Responsibilities: Under discussion with Chair

Membership Committee
Chair: Open
Responsibilities: To plan, implement and evaluate products and services for current members of the Chamber that allow members to maximize opportunities to grow and develop business and also create new membership growth for the Chamber.

Nominating Committee
Chair: Andria Herr
Responsibilities: Constantly evaluate talent from within the Chamber to fill key Board and leadership roles and prepare a list of nominees equal to or greater than the number of vacancies to be filled for the upcoming fiscal year.


Small Business Committee 
Chair: Michael McLean
Responsibilities: Monitor and evaluate the needs and wants of the small business community and establish Chamber programs and services that address them.

Small Business Week Sub-Committee
Chair: Susan Carey
Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate successful Small Business Week Celebration that recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of small businesses in Seminole County.

Women’s Business Quarterly Committee 
Chair: Judith Topper
Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate successful programs for female business woman that highlights local, regional and national women of inspiration for motivational and educational luncheon.

Ad Hoc Committees
Holiday Expo Committee 
Chair: Christina Crowley
Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate Holiday Expo that provides opportunity for local businesses to retail directly to community and provides an early start to holiday celebration for the Chamber and community.

Chamber Golf/Event Day 
Chair: Janice Hanley
Responsibilities: To plan, execute and evaluate a Chamber events day that provides fun, exciting and creative opportunities for business members to do business through participation in this unique event.

Annual Meeting Committee
Chair: Christina Crowley
Responsibilities:  Coordinate and produce the annual meeting as a signature event to summarize the past fiscal year, present annual awards and host a nationally renowned speaker of interest. 
 
Holiday Social Committee
Chair: Christina Crowley
Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate successful Holiday Social which provides a holiday celebration open to members and invited guests.

Green Expo Committee 
Chair: Open
Responsibilities: Plan, execute and evaluate the successful efforts within this niche through exposition of green business, initiatives and opportunities.
