Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards

In May 2011 the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce will join the US Small Business Administration in celebrating Small Business Week.

According to Chamber President/CEO Frank Hale, "Small Business Week will allow us to recognize the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of Seminole County. It also celebrates the contributions, commitment and impact made by outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners in our communities."
 
Do you know a business to nominate or are you deserving of Small Business Week recognition? Nominations are now being accepted for people and businesses that have achieved success by increasing sales, overcoming adversity, contributing to the community, creating innovative products and more.

Review the summary of award categories, fill out the nomination form:

Small Business Person of the Year Award:
o The most prestigious of all Small Business Week awards. This award will be presented to an entrepreneur for developing an outstanding, growing business; innovative product(s), increasing jobs, increasing sales, overcoming adversity, and/or community contributions. (*Financial information will be required)  Review Small Business Person of the Year Award Criteria

SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award:
o Candidate must not have reached the age of 30 by June 1, 2011 to be eligible. Evidence of three (3) years success in sales, profits, innovative products, demonstrated entrepreneurial potential and/or community contributions. (*Financial information will be required)  Review SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award Criteria

Family Owned Business of the Year Award:
o Family owned and operated business with multiply family members involved over the history of the business, that has evidence of success in sales and community contributions. Nominees must also serve as a majority owner and operator or bear principal responsibility for operating a small business with at least a 7-year track record. (*Financial information will be required)  Review Family Owned Business of the Year Award Criteria

Home-Based Business of the Year Award:
o This award will be presented to a home-based business owner for developing an outstanding, growing business; innovative product(s), success in sales, and/or community contributions. (*Financial information will be required) Review Home-Based Business of the Year Award Criteria

Women-Owned Business of the Year Award:
o Presented to a business wholly owned and operated by a woman that has evidence of success in sales and community contributions. (*Financial information will be required) Review Women-Owned Business of the Year Award Criteria

Not-For-Profit of the Year Award Criteria:
o This award will be presented to a 501 C (3) not-for-profit for developing an outstanding business that is meeting needs within Seminole County.  A growing business with innovative services(s) and approach that is increasing opportunity, overcoming adversity, and providing community contributions. (*Financial information will be required) Review Not-For-Profit of the Year Award Criteria

Business Advocate of the Year Award Criteria:
o This award will be presented to a Seminole County person who has worked tirelessly on behalf of small business in a professional or volunteer capacity. Review Business Advocate of the Year Award Criteria
